Article in Pentest Magazine - Building a pentest system using Ubuntu

Ive got an article in the latest edition of Pentest Magazine about setting up a pentesting system using Ubuntu Linux.  This covers the actual process I use at work when setting up a pentesting box.

Read more about this issue here.

There were a few bits and pieces I wrote but left out of the article because of space reasons, so I will be posting them here on my blog soonish.

  1. Hello,
I've been contacted by this magazine to write an article, I was wondering if you can give me advice because I do not know how to put.

They told me to make several boxes with the title, abstract, article and description of the author, but where do I put the boxes dasn my Word document, etc.?

Finally, how can I put PHP code in the article with syntax coloring, etc..
Did you receive a PDF template (template ready) for writing the article, for I have not received anything.

    Thank you very much!

  2. Hi tous-pour-tous

They didnt mention any formatting specifics to me, and I just sent them my article in .doc format with basic formatting to outline commands, headings, notes, bullet points, picture titles etc. They then prettied it up into the format you'll see in the magazine. I didnt have any code in my article (just commands) so I didnt run into the issue with code syntax coloring. My author bio was provided in a seperate email. If I were you Id just do some basic formatting in a document like I did, and let them handle the rest so it fits the general look and feel of the rest of the magazine. They sent me an advance copy of the article for comments before it was published, so you'll likely have an opportunity to say if you want any changes to the way it looks.
